Rules Of Conduct for Posting

For postings made to forums, Q&A discussion platform and Career Tips.  My Career Forum interactive discussion platforms were designed to discuss job search and career topics that are helpful to readers and users. 

  • Avoid using names of companies, coworkers, or people.
  • No abusive or slanderous language is allowed.
  • Professional conduct and communication is expected of you.
  • No sharing offensive or inappropriate material.
  • No spamming.
  • No sharing materials that belong to someone else, unless you have their permission(No copyrighted material allowed)

POSTING DOS AND DON’TS

Dos (Forums, Q&A, Career Tips)

  1. Read the posting rules and guidelines.  It helps you understand what is and is not allowed on the forum.
  2. Be respectful of other members.  It means avoiding personal attacks, insults, and threats. It also means being mindful of your language, as some words or phrases may be considered offensive to others.
  3. Use proper grammar and spelling.  It will make your posts easier to read and understand. It will also make you look more credible.
  4. Keep your posts on topic. It means posting in the correct forum and staying focused on the issue. Off-topic posts can be confusing and frustrating for other members.
  5. Proofread your posts before you submit them.  It will help to avoid any errors in grammar or spelling. It will also make your posts look more professional.
  6. Be patient.  It may take some time for your posts to be approved by the moderators. They want to ensure all posts are appropriate for the forum.
  7. Be helpful and supportive.  It means answering questions, offering advice, and supporting other members.
  8. Be positive.  It means avoiding negative comments and focusing on the positive aspects of the forum.
  9. Be yourself.  It means being genuine and authentic in your interactions with other members.
  10. Have fun!  It means enjoying the experience of participating in a forum and interacting with other members.

Don’ts (Forums, Q&A, Career Tips)

We maintain the right to edit, remove, delete any post, question, response or thread we feel is inappropriate.

We need to make sure that material posted on the Forums, Q&As or Career Tips is not potentially harmful. For this reason, we may edit or choose not to publish any Forum post, Q&A post, or Career Tip that:

  • contains disrespectful or derogatory remarks about any other member.
  • contains advice or content that we believe is damaging, unhelpful or distressing to others.
  • contains inappropriate links.
  • contains swearing or offensive language is nonsensical and/or irrelevant.
  • promotes personal beliefs in a way that is disrespectful of the choices of others.
  • infringes the privacy of individuals or service providers.
  • is racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit or suggestive, abusive or otherwise discriminatory or objectionable.
  • advertises products, services, events or research.
  • makes any reference to specific prescription medication names and/or dosages or seeks medical advice.
  • includes personal information such as images clearly displaying your face, full names, phone numbers, locations, postal or email addresses; or encourages the sharing of such details.
  • puts overt pressure on other members to respond, including ‘goodbye’ messages.
  • makes attempt to facilitate personal offline contact with other members.
  • describes or encourages violence, suicide or other activity which could endanger the safety or wellbeing of others.
  • contains methods or detail of suicide, self-harm or sexual abuse.
  • is a copy of another post or contains the same, or similar, message posted multiple times elsewhere?
  • contains references to edits or moderation.
  • is more than 2,500 characters in length or submitted in multiple parts to avoid the character limit.
  • is made from duplicate accounts.

Please be advised that the My Career Forum has a strict no-spam policy. Blatant advertisements, sales pitches, get-rich-quick schemes, and other messages or postings of a purely commercial nature are not allowed and will be deleted immediately.
